Bewdley Man $1 Million Richer After Winning Top Prize with INSTANT $1 MILLION ROYALE

In Community, Local

Denys Haynes of Bewdley is a cancer survivor, and now a millionaire

Denys, a 61-year old welder, discovered his win at home while sitting at the coffee table. “My wife was surprised that I had purchased an INSTANT ticket – they’re more her thing,” he shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque. “I revealed the number 41, and the prize amount was $1 million. I was shocked. When I showed my wife, we laughed and said it should have been her,” he recalled.

A cancer survivor who spent ten years fighting the disease, Denys feels that this experience is surreal. “This more than helps me to recover from the financial impact that cancer had on my life,” he smiled. “Before this, the most I ever won on an INSTANT ticket was $100. I never thought it would happen to me!”

Denys plans to purchase a new house and a new vehicle, and also share with family. “I’m happy to say I’ll use the rest to retire next year. I’m also going to treat myself to a Harley Davidson,” he concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lakeside Supermarket on Rice Lake Drive in Bewdley.

The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto is now accepting in-person prize claim appointments for winning-ticket holders of $10,000 or more. Appointments for prizes of this value will be granted if requested, however prizes up to $49,999.90 do not have to be claimed in-person and customers are encouraged to continue to mail in these claims when possible. To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Future announcements will be made as to when OLG will open appointments to anyone wishing to claim their prize in-person at the Prize Centre.

INSTANT $1 MILLION $ ROYALE is available for $10 a play and the top prize is $1,000,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.41. Visit the INSTANT page on OLG.ca for more information on this and other great games.
