Cramahe Township Mayor fuming at people not paying attention to the rules set out during COVID-19.

On Thursday, July 2, 2020, Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin visited Little Lake Beach at approximately 3:30 p.m. and witnessed a number of adults and children clearly beyond the fenced off area playing and enjoying the beach.

“I think it is completely irresponsible,” Martin told Today’s Northumberland.

“It’s so disrespectable of our community of everyone else in this community.”

“We’re all trying to do our best.”

“This is just openly flaunting.”

Some other beaches in Northumberland County are closed including Victoria Beach in Cobourg and Port Hope beach will be closed on weekends.

“They are jeopardizing the health of our community.”

“What does it take for people to get it – it’s everywhere.”

Martin said on Thursday it was announced there were over 10,000 cases of COVID-19 in one day in Florida.

On Canada Day the street was lined with vehicles while people openly enjoyed themselves.

“On the weekends, all kinds of people were just disobeying.”

Martin said she will be taking the matter up with Northumberland OPP for enforcement.

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit states on their website that Little Lake in Cramahe Township is “currently closed due to COVID-19.”
