From the 23rd of July, 2018 through the 30th of July, 2018, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 206 occurrences including: 11 Motor Vehicle Collisions, , 3 Theft/Shoplifting calls, 4 Mischief calls, 3 Assault calls, 6 Mental Health related calls, 1 Threat related call, 1 Warrant/Bail Violation call, 17 Police information/Assistance calls and 31 Community Service related calls . Here are some examples of calls for service for the week:
23 July, 2018
Suspicious Person – Police responded to an address on Alexandria Drive for a report of a male knocking on the door that was not supposed to be there according to the caller. Upon Police arrival the male had fled the area in an unknown direction and there was no indication of a criminal offence had occurred.
Motor Vehicle Collision – Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Elgin and Burnham streets. On further investigation it was revealed that the driver of one of the vehicles turned in front of the other causing the collision. The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged with turn not in safety.

24 July, 2108
Mischief – Sometime overnight a male’s vehicle was keyed in the area of University Avenue West. Police were contacted and determined that there are no suspects at this time.
Unwanted Person – Police attended a Division Street address for an unwanted male that was at the residence. Police spoke with both parties who agreed to separate for the evening with no assaults or threats being reported.
25 July, 2018
Domestic Dispute – Police attended a residence on John Street for a report of a domestic dispute that was ongoing. Police arrived on scene where the male and female were yelling and screaming at each other. Both parties allowed to stay at the residence as no assaults or threats were reported to Police.
26 July, 2018
Missing Person – Police received a call in regards to a male that had not been heard from all night and was very concerned. After an investigation it was revealed that the male had worked late and fell asleep in his vehicle, nothing further for Police to investigate.
Neighbor Dispute – Complainant from an address on Sinclair Street telephoned Police to make a complaint about her neighbor constantly yelling at and harassing her. Police spoke with the neighbor and cautioned him on his actions with no further Police action required.
Mischief – An elderly female driver was driving along King Street and was slowed by a male youth on a scooter. On honking her horn at the young male to get him to move off the road, he subsequently damaged her vehicle with his scooter. The male youth was later arrested by police for mischief under $5000.00 and released into his mother’s care. The male youth cannot be name as he is under the age of 18.
27 July, 2018
Weapons – A female attended the Canadian Tire store, located at 1125 Elgin Street West looking for blanks for her starter pistol. The female failed to keep her pistol stored properly and store employees observed the pistol in her purse and Police were contacted. Police attended the area but the female had left but was contacted to re-attend the store to speak to Police where she was spoken to and voluntarily gave up the starter pistol to Police for destruction. No charges are forthcoming.
Disturb the Peace – Police attended the Walmart store, located at 75 Strathy Road, Cobourg for a report of two males involved in a heated argument. Police arrived a short time later and observed that one of the males had already departed the scene. Police spoke with both males and learned that the argument had begun over a poor parking job by one of the males. No assaults or threats reported and no charges.
28 July 2018
Unwanted Person – Police attended an East end bar for an unwanted male that was refused service and was also refusing to leave the area. Police attended the area and observed a male that was too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held until he was sober.
Family Dispute – Police attended a King Street address for a report of a 14 year old male that was leaving his house to be with his father due to his mother’s intoxicated state. Police located the young male who attended his father’s workplace and both were proceeding to the father’s residence. No further Police assistance.
Stolen Vehicle – A complainant left his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in the parking lot of Mucho Burrito as it was having mechanical issues. On his return in the morning the vehicle had been stolen and he contacted Police. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is continuing.

29 July 2018
Unwanted Person – Police attended an address on Tweed Street for a report of an intoxicated male that was yelling and refusing to leave the area. On arrival Police located an intoxicated male, Eric ANDRUS, who was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held until sober.
