North Shore Reaching Sailing School owner and instructor Andy McCabe was thrilled to captain his crew of five Canadians to a smooth fourth place finish in the Hogs Sailing Race held in Croatia May 14-19, 2023. A total of eleven teams from three countries – Canada, Austria and the United States, participated in this year’s race on More 55 sailboats.

The Hogs Sailing Race was started in 2005 with this year’s event organized by Austrian Erhard Meier. The race is held annually in different locations throughout the world. This year, first place went to a team from the United States, with second and third place to teams from Austria. McCabe says he is proud of his crew for their performance in a variety of challenging weather conditions. This was his first time competing in the event and says it was exciting and a great opportunity to share his love for sailing with sailors from around the world. He looks forward to competing in the Hogs Sailing Race again in the future.

North Shore Reaching Sailing School, now in its sixth year, has locations in Brighton and Meaford, Ontario. They offer the internationally recognized American Sailing Association courses to adult sailors of all levels and are one of only three schools in Canada to offer these courses.
