Earth Week, April 16-22, 2023
Come and join your friends and neighbours to celebrate Earth Week by doing one or all of Sustainable Cobourg’s ‘earth friendly’ activities. We’ve got lots lined up for you.
Sunday April 16- Join our Youth Ambassador, Tovan Lew, at Peace Park, 175 Fourth Street Cobourg, to spruce it up for spring by getting rid of the debris that can make it feel less than peaceful. See you at 12:30! Get a free Sustainable Cobourg T-Shirt for volunteering!

Monday April 17- See you at the Cobourg Community Garden located in James J. Tracey Park (at Walton and Spencer St.) @ 1:30 for a wee tour and a look at how awesome it is. Your guide will be Bruce Bellaire. Rain date : Friday April 21.

Tuesday April 18–2 guided hikes at Headwaters Community Farm and Education Centre: 3517 Rowe Rd. Cobourg ON K9A 4J7 Free parking, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Come and explore the evolution of a Northumberland farmstead from evidence of prehistoric hunting grounds to early logging operations and land clearing to development of a family farm going back 5 generations. This guided hike will take you through the hills and dales of Headwaters Farm at the top of Gage’s Creek where you will experience the most incredible views! Seating available for you to snack and maybe Tony will have some of his awesome bagels available (at a cost;-)
2 hikes. 10:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00.”

Wednesday April 19- Electric Vehicles ‘SHOW & TELL’ @ Northumberland Mall parking lot off Elgin at Boston Pizza entrance, 10:00-2:00 p.m. 5-10 EVs to explore and ask questions of the real owners of EVs. So much to experience!

Thursday April 20- Speaker Sue Shikaze of the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit will speak about ‘Connecting the Dots: Climate Change and Health’. Join us at Venture 13. 739 D’Arcy St. from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Free coffee and tea at the meet and greet (bring your mug) in the kitchen, then on to the seminar room for Sue’s talk and finishing with a Q&A.

Friday April 21- Cobourg’s one and only DIY Bike Shop, Cycle Transitions, invites you to an Open House from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Building 17 Northam Industrial Park, 740 Division St. Cobourg. (behind Venture 13) You won’t believe the good deals! All bikes are used and reconditioned so NOT in landfill.

Saturday April 22- Earth Day at the Ecology Garden- the theme is SUSTAINABILITY and speakers, including President of Sustainable Cobourg, Gigi, will be speaking to that topic. Come and join from 1:00-2:00 pm. The location is at the south most end of Hibernia St. Cobourg, then right at the WestBeach Boardwalk.
