Port Hope Police say after an extensive search they believe a suspect has left the area after being involved in a pursuit that ended in a collision early Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. emergency services responded to the end of Victoria Street South in Port Hope for a pickup truck that went off the road and collided with a house.

The Dodge Ram had been pursued by members of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) along Highway 401.

Today’s Northumberland has contacted DRPS who stated they will be issuing a release shortly.

Members of the DRPS, DRPS Canine Unit, Northumberland OPP along with Port Hope Police searched the area extensively for hours but couldn’t locate the suspect.

Port Hope Police Inspector Katie Andrews told Today’s Northumberland, “there is no public threat at this time.”

“We believe the suspect has left the area.”

The suspect is described is male, black, possibly in his early 20’s, beard and has a Jamaican accent.

The occupants of the house were shaken, but uninjured.
