City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service – Fraud Charges (Name Released)

On Thursday November 10, 2022 at 1:57PM Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a local bank for the report of a female attempting to obtain a credit card using fraudulent identification.

An alert bank employee suspected the identification she was using wasn’t legitimate and called police.

Officers arrested the female at the bank, she continued to provide false information regarding her identity while in custody.

30-year-old Lyna Bunla of Montreal has been charged with

obtain credit by false pretenses or fraud,

possession of an identity document,

identity theft – obtain or possess another person’s identity information,

personation with intent to obtain property,

attempt to use forged document and obstruct peace officer.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.
