Driver Charged with Careless Driving After Collision with Motorcycle in Cobourg

A motorcycle driver was taken to hospital suffering from serious, but non-life threatening injuries after a collision in Cobourg on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. emergency services were dispatched to the intersection of Elgin Street and Ontario Street.

A vehicle that had just left the intersection was negotiating a U-turn when the driver of a a northbound motorcycle tried to avoid the vehicle by laying the motorcycle down, but it skidded and struck the vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital suffering from a leg injury.

The driver of the vehicle wasn’t injured.

North bound traffic on Ontario Street was shut down for approximately one hour while the investigation took place.

The driver of the car was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act
