Cobourg Councillor Aaron Burchat offered some amazing numbers at this week’s Cobourg council meeting, especially in terms of bylaw enforcement.
Burchat said that there had been 95 incidents addressed just over the past month. The detailed list he reeled off included 29 animal-control complaints, five noise complaints, 14 parking complaints, two tree-bylaw complaints, seven lot-maintenance complaints and four that had to do with property standards.
And that doesn’t include 988 parking tickets issued in the last month.
Burchat also had year-to-date statistics for the town’s fire department. As of Aug. 15, he said, their 805 incidents included 28 fires, 429 medical calls and 44 calls to assist police and other service providers. They have also conducted 224 training events and 160 fire-prevention activities.
Mayor John Henderson mentioned some statistics of his own in the form of anniversaries that were recently celebrated – the 30th year for Beyond The Blue Box, the 40th year for Legion Village and the 90th year for Kelly’s Homelike Inn.
“Also known as Kelly’s,” Henderson said.
“The ninetieth, which was hard for me to believe, but it’s certainly a stellar number.”
