Quinte West OPP – Vehicle Collision Results in Impaired Driving Charge (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a driver after responding to a two vehicle collision in Quinte West.

On August 5, 2022 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a collision on the Johnstown Road Bridge involving two vehicles. Police invest igation learned that an eastbound pickup truck and a westbound SUV collided after the pickup truck driver allegedly crossed into the westbound lane. Officers spoke with the driver of the pickup truck who was allegedly demonstrating signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for testing where its further alleged that the accused refused to participate in mandatory breath testing.

Sylvain ROY, 60 years old from Trenton has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 25, 2022. Their drivers license was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
