Cobourg Police – Theft From Vehicle (No Name Released)

A man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime after being observed riding a stolen bike.

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, police received a report of theft from a vehicle. The caller reported that a bicycle was taken from their vehicle sometime overnight. While on general patrol on University Avenue West in Cobourg, police observed an individual riding a bike matching the description provided by the caller.

As a result of the police investigation, a 41-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offence:

1. Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Police returned the bicycle to the owner. The man was released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled for September 7, 2022.
