QUINTE WEST OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION

Female Charged with Second Degree Murder

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On June 25, 2018, members with the Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and East Region OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Matthews, Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), arrested and charged Nicole Lorraine SCARDINO, 45-years of age from Quinte West with Second Degree Murder.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 26, 2018 for a bail hearing.

On June 16, 2018 at approximately 1:27 p.m., officers f rom the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as the Quinte West Fire Department and Hastings Quinte Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to West Street in the City of Quinte West for a single motor vehicle collision where a pedestrian was struck.

As a result of the collision, Samuel Joseph ANDREWS, 49-years-old, of Quinte West was pronounced deceased at the scene.
