Cobourg Police – Theft from Downtown Business (No Names Released)

A Scarborough woman has been charged with theft after police were called to a downtown business.

On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., police attended a business downtown Cobourg in response to a report of two women shoplifting. Staff observed the women leaving the store with unpaid merchandise. One of the women left in a vehicle, and the other left the store on foot.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description provided and initiated a traffic stop. The person of interest who left on foot was not located.

As a result of the police investigation, a 30-year-old Scarborough woman was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Theft Under $5,000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

The woman was released on an Undertaking with a court date of Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
