Cobourg Police – Suspect Charged with Uttering Threats and Harassment

On Monday, March 7, 2022, police were called to a residence in the north end of Cobourg regarding a report of uttering threats. The investigation revealed that the caller’s ex-boyfriend sent a text message threatening death to another individual.

Additionally, the ex-boyfriend was currently sought by police in another criminal investigation regarding harassing communication.

As a result of the police investigation, a 35-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Uttering Threats contrary to section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code

2. Three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

3. Harassing Communication contrary to Section 372(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada

4. Criminal Harassment contrary to Section 264(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

5. Breach of Undertaking contrary to Section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

6. Breach of Recognizance contrary to Section 811 of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was held pending a show cause hearing
