Quinte West OPP – Person Charged in Relation to Alleged Fraud

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following the complaint of a fraud in Quinte West.

On January 29, 2022, Quinte West OPP received a complaint of a fraud, whereby an individual was alleged to have taken a deposit to complete renovations, however the work was not completed. Further investigation learned that the accused was on court ordered conditions not to accept a deposit of funds in advance . On February 14, 2022, the accused was arrested at the Quinte West OPP Detachment.

Steven BELL, 63 years old from Belleville has been charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud over $5000; and
  • Failure to comply with a release order.

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 14, 2022.
