Quinte West OPP – Person Charged Following Threats Complaint

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a threat complaint in Frankford.

On February 5, 2022 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a business on South Trent Street in Quinte West after receiving reports that a male was causing a disturbance, and had made utterances that he had explosives in his possession. The male left prior to police arrival however was quickly located by officers at a residence on Oxford Street.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), along with the OPP Canine Unit attended and set up containment on the address. A warrant was obtained and officers entered the residence where the accused was arrested following the deployment of a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW). An explosive search was conducted and no evidence of explosives or bomb making material was located.

Tyson KIMMERLY, 45 years old of Quinte West has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and resist peace officer.

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 6, 2022.
