Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Restore Launches “We’d Love Your Donations” Campaign

In News

Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is looking for your gift in kind donations for their ReStore. The Habitat ReStore is a social enterprise retailer operated by a skilled team of staff and volunteers in Cobourg since 2004. It helps to fund the affiliate operations for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and ensures that all the money raised in fundraising goes directly to building materials for their homeownership program. The ReStore, with both physical location and online store, relies on donations from both individuals & corporations to stock its store with new & gently used building supply & home improvement items.

“The ReStore is a vital part of our operations at Habitat. Without the revenue earned from that source, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do in the community”, explains Executive Director Meaghan Macdonald. With the launch of the We’d LOVE your donations campaign, the ReStore is specifically looking for items that are often sought after by our customers, such as gently used kitchen cabinets, chest of drawers and couches. With each donation, the ReStore is offering up a 20% OFF one item coupon to be redeemed at the ReStore, as a thank you to their donors for the month of February.

According to ReStore Manager Maggie Loken, “as we turn our minds towards Spring, it’s nice to see a fresh inventory rotation, it really revitalizes the store. This time around we really wanted to share the love of our donors by giving them a little something back.” Loken hopes that the coupon will mean that some of the donors will also become customers.

It is very easy to donate to the ReStore. The donation centre is located on the south side of the building at 764 Division St. in Cobourg. Here, staff and volunteers can help to unload donations from vehicles to be processed.

Too big or awkward to bring it to the ReStore? Donors can take advantage of pick-ups. Donors located within Northumberland County can contact the ReStore and arrange to have items picked up by our ReStore truck. All donations over $50 are eligible for a tax receipt.

For more information on making a donation or becoming a volunteer with the ReStore, head to habitatnorthumberland.ca or contact David Moscher, ReStore Coordinator at 289-252-0999 x 26 & dmoscher@habitatnorthumberland.ca.
