Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Theft After Police Respond to an Alarm Activation

On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 2:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to attend a secure compound near downtown Cobourg in response to a report of an alarm activation inside the premise.
Police responded to the area and observed a man inside the compound.

As a result of a subsequent police investigation, 27-year-old Michael BERRYMAN of Cobourg was arrested and charged with:

• Mischief Under $5,000.00 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

• Theft Under $5,000.00 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

• Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

• Enter when Entry Prohibited contrary to section 2(1)(a)(i) of the Trespass to Property Act

BERRYMAN was later released from police custody scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in December 2021
