Durham Regional Police – Fatal Vehicle Collision

An unknown male was fatally injured after his vehicle lost control and struck a tree on Howden Road near Harmony Road in Oshawa.

On Sunday October 24th, 2021 at approximately 4:10 a.m., officers from East Division were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on Howden Road near Harmony Road in Oshawa.  Officers attended the area and discovered a blue 2021 Honda Civic damaged against a tree and fully engulfed by fire. The vehicle’s lone occupant and driver remained inside the vehicle was pronounced at the scene.  

The vehicle appeared to have been travelling eastbound on Howden Road, east of Harmony Road when it lost control and entered the north ditch striking a tree at a high rate of speed.

The investigation is currently attempting to confirm the identity of the driver.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
