Cobourg Police – Male Arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance for Purpose of Trafficking

On the 21st day of October 2021 at approximately 1:30 am, members of the Cobourg Police Service observed a vehicle in the area of James Street East. Upon interacting with the occupant of the motor vehicle, the male fled the area running.

The male was apprehended and arrested a short distance later and found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected fentanyl and cocaine. As a result of police investigation, 36-year-old Terry Beaton of Cobourg is charged with the following:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession of Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Fail to comply with probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code x 2;

Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Police Seized approximately 3.5 grams of Fentanyl, and 19.5 grams of cocaine. The total potential street value of the seized drugs is $3,400.
Beaton was released from Police custody on an Appearance Notice with an impending court date
