Residents are invited to join one of two upcoming virtual public information sessions to learn about and provide feedback on the final draft of the Northumberland County Forest Management Plan, developed to help guide the sustainable management of the County Forest over the next 20 years and beyond. The Forest Management Plan identifies high-level strategies and long-term goals to strengthen recreation opportunities in the Forest, while ensuring strong natural and cultural heritage conservation practices designed to preserve this community asset for future generations. The final draft of the plan incorporates feedback gathered during consultations conducted between 2018 and 2020 with residents, forest user groups and stakeholders, as well as research of industry best practices. It is structured around objectives related to eight key themes including: · Communication, public engagement and partnerships · Recreation · Risk, liability and enforcement · Ecology · Forestry · Cultural heritage · Infrastructure and administration · Finance As staff near the end of the development phase for the Forest Management Plan, residents are invited to provide any final feedback on the draft plan before submission to County Council in 2022. The project team will be delivering a 30-minute presentation about the plan at two upcoming virtual public information sessions, followed by a Question & Answer period where community members may direct questions to the project consultant and County Forest staff.
