Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Possessing Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 12:55 a.m., police responded to the area of the Covert Street parking lot
for a report of suspicious persons behind a business.

Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description provided. Subsequent police investigation
revealed that the man was in possession of a rifle case containing an air rifle. The man was currently
prohibited from possessing any weapons, firearms, or ammunition.

He was arrested. The man was also found to be in possession of a quantity of assorted live ammunition.
As a result of police investigation, 27-year-old Michael BERRYMAN of Cobourg was charged with the following
offences:

Possess Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the
Criminal Code

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act

Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code x2

BERRYMAN was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
