Community Care Northumberland is happy to announce the 11th annual Hike For Hospice in an updated form, which they’re calling Hike, Bike and Bark For Hospice.
It takes place from Aug. 21 through Sept. 4 as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the Community Care hospice services based out of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre for those with a life-limiting illness (and their caregivers and loved ones).
For this new version of a favourite annual fundraiser, participants can register as individuals ($25), family groups ($50) or teams ($100) and collect pledges – then hike, bike, walk the dog or complete any other activity and distance of their choosing as to how, when and where.
Pending changes in COVID-19 regulations, participants can pick up their registration kits from 10 a.m. To noon on Aug. 21 at Ed’s House. The first 100 will include a T-shirt, a cookie from Roda’s Kitchen and an optional dog bandana.
Following each participants walk, hike or bike where and when they choose, it is planned that they can return to Ed’s House Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a celebration barbecue. It’s a chance to drop off cash and cheque pledges, as well as an opportunity to celebrate the first anniversary of Ed’s House opening its doors.
Special Events Committee chair (and Ed’s House Foundation member) Nancy Oliver extended thanks to signature sponsors Tina Hubicki and Lee Casewell of Bosley Real Estate Ltd., as well as other community sponsors.
“We look forward to another signature event that supports the life-changing hospice services offered out of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre,” Oliver said in the announcement.
