Your Equity Diversity and Inclusion Feedback is Welcomed in Cobourg

In City Hall

The Town of Cobourg’s Communications Department announces a new Equity Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Goals project on its Engage Cobourg website.

Engage Cobourg is the municipality’s on-line public-engagement platform, and this new project will help gather feedback and comments from residents on actions the town should take towards improving equity, diversity and inclusion – all towards the goal of helping shape the Equity Diversity and Inclusion Strategy that will demonstrate the town’s commitment towards the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities.

Along with this on-line tool, virtual public town halls and community engagement and listening sessions are being planned to learn about the important topics that should be addressed in the creation of this strategy – for which the town has proposed four goals.

1 – Identify and address systemic barriers within the Corporation

2 – Create programs to meet the needs of everyone

3 – Engage diverse communities in a meaningful way

4 – Attract and leverage a diverse workforce

These are the building blocks that will be used during a August visioning session in which council and the town’s Senior Leadership Team will participate to create the draft of the EDI Strategy, with the goal of presenting it for further comment in September.

Residents are encouraged to visit engagecobourg.ca to view the complete project and learn more, as well as to share feedback on actions the town should take to improve equity, diversity and inclusion through joining the forums and providing ideas for actions to take under each of the goals.

The announcement went on to encourage residents of the Town of Cobourg to create an on-line profile and participate in other current public-engagement projects. To register, click on the Register Today button.
