Cobourg Police – Asking For Public’s Assistance Regarding Robbery

Investigators with the Cobourg Police Service request the public’s assistance identifying a person of interest in
connection with a robbery investigation.

On Thursday, July 15, 2021, at approximately 7:10 pm, officers responded to the area of George Street North and University Avenue West in the Town of Cobourg. Officers learned that a woman parked in her vehicle was approached by a man who threatened her, demanding money. The man took her money after pushing the woman and fled the area running. The man was not known by the complainant. The woman sustained no injuries.

The person of interest is described as:
• Male
• Caucasian
• Approximate height 5’8”
• Dark hair
• ‘Scruffy’ facial hair and moustache
• Beige baggy shorts – worn low, open shirt exposing his chest
• carrying a backpack.

Residents who live in the area or were present around the time of the incident are asked to check their security cameras in the event that the robbery or the person of interest was witnessed or captured on video.

Robbery is an act of theft facilitated by the use of violence. Cooperate with the robber for your safety and the safety of others. Remain calm and think clearly. Put your safety first. Your personal safety is more important than money or merchandise. Make mental notes of the robber’s physical description and call the police immediately after the incident.
