Cobourg – Terry Fox Stormwater Management Pond Cleanout Notice

In City Hall

The Town of Cobourg’s Public Works Division would like to inform residents of another upcoming essential construction project that will begin during the month of May 2021.

Terry Fox Stormwater Management Pond Cleanout, begins May 10, 2021

The Town of Cobourg would like to inform residents that the cleanout of the Terry Fox Stormwater Management (SWM) pond will begin on May 10, 2021. Stormwater management ponds collect storm water runoff and assist with improving the quality and reducing the quantity of storm water that is released back to waterways, such as creeks or Lake Ontario.

The pond is located near Fraser Court and Tillison Avenue, north of Elgin Street West. Construction activities will take approximately two (2) months and is being undertaken to remove the accumulation of silt that has collected and to make repairs to the pond to ensure it is functioning correctly.

To ensure residents and workers remain safe, contractors will be outfitted with personal protective gear (PPE) and a site-specific safety plan that will be followed throughout the duration of each project.

The Town of Cobourg and Public Works staff thank you for your patience and consideration during the stormwater management cleanout activities.
