Cobourg Police – Man Arrested on a Warrant

A man has been arrested on a warrant after being observed in the downtown area.


On April 16, 2021, at 9:40 pm, police on patrol observed a man known to be wanted on a warrant held by the
Cobourg Police Service. The man was arrested on the warrant, at which time he was found to be in possession
of a quantity of controlled substances as well as a concealed knife.


As a result of the police investigation, 46-year-old Mark Whitefield of Cobourg is charged with the following
offence:

Carry a concealed weapon contrary to section 90 of the Criminal Code

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section
5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking contrary
to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act


The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.
