Four Charged After Investigation by OPP Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit

An investigation led by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) resulted in the execution of five Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants on January 13, 2021. The warrants were executed on three residences and two vehicles in the City of Peterborough with the assistance of the Haliburton Highlands/City of Kawartha Lakes CSCU, Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Peterborough Police Service ERT and Peterborough County OPP uniform officers.

Four suspects were arrested and charged with drug offences related to the trafficking of drugs in the Peterborough area. Officers seized $20,190 in Canadian currency, 701 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of crack cocaine, 50 grams of purple fentanyl, 53 Percocet tablets, 2 oxycodone tablets, 3.6 grams of heroin, cell phones, scales, 9 mm ammunition/1 prohibited magazine and other drug paraphernalia during the investigation. The estimated street value of the seized items is $99,700.
Azubiuke OKOYE (age 25) of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-heroin
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid-two counts
• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-over $5000
The accused appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough for a bail hearing on January 14, 2021.

Dequawn NESBETH (age 21) of Unionville, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-heroin
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid-two counts
• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-over $5000
The accused appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough for a bail hearing on January 14, 2021.

Emmanuel DAPHEY (age 25) of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 2, 2021.

Tyler BUSHEY (age 29) of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-heroin
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 2, 2021.

This incident remains under investigation.
