Port Hope Police – Driver Charged With Operation While Impaired

A vehicle reported driving at a high rate of speed in a parking lot and almost hitting a parked vehicle with a child inside led to the arrest 58 year old Brain Cross.

Witnesses observed Cross driving so fast when exiting the parking lot gravel was flying all over the parking lot from the vehicle wheels.

Cross was arrested at around 4:00 pm Sunday October 25, 2020.

Cross is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance while impaired by drug or alcohol.

Cross is further charged with operation of a conveyance with excess blood alcohol, adult dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, take motor vehicle without consent, fail to comply with a probation order, drive commercial vehicle no licence, fail to remain, and adult driving while under suspension. Cross will appear in court in early December.

Port Hope Police want to remind citizens to help keep the roads safe. You can do this by planning ahead for a sober ride home. Port Hope Police will be conducting dedicated R.I.D.E. programs as we approach the holiday season.
