Update – Truck Involved in Head-On Collision May Have Been In Second Collision Earlier In The Evening

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TOWNSHIP, ON) – Today’s Northumberland has learned a pickup truck that was involved in a head-on collision on County Road 45, just north of Bulls Mill Road in Alnwick/Haldimand Township on Sunday, October 11, 2020, may have been in a second collision just prior to the head-on collision.

The head-on collision occurred shortly before 8:00 pm, when emergency services responded to a serious head-on collision involving two pick-up trucks on County Road 45 just north of Bulls Mill Road.

The collision involved a Dodge pick-up truck that was travelling south bound and a Chevrolet pick-up truck that was travelling north bound. Both drivers were trapped and were extricated by members of the Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department then transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries. The 65-year-old driver of the Chevrolet pick-up was then transported to a Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto area hospital to be treated for serious, internal injuries and broken bones.

County Road 45 was closed for several hours while OPP TTCI (Technical Traffic Collision Investigators) trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

Today’s Northumberland has learned the Dodge pick-up may have been involved in a collision on County Road 22 at Centreton approximately 30-minutes previous to the collision on County Road 45.

One witness stated a pickup truck of similar description went into the ditch and struck a well at approximately 7:30 p.m. on County Road 22, just west of the Centreton store. A license plate and parts of the vehicle were left at the scene when the vehicle left.
