Northumberland OPP – Police Seeking Public’s Assistance with Mischief Investigation

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a theft and acts of mischief related incidents that have occurred in the town of Brighton.

During the month of June, 2020, police received reports of vehicles that were found vandalized, and graffiti that included racial slurs, on a property on Sharpe Road, which is located in an area northeast within the Brighton Industrial Park. The property owner additionally reported the theft of power tools from the same location.

On June 16, 2020, police responded to a report of suspicious persons in the area of Shape Road where three youths described as two males and one female, were observed fleeing the location on foot.

The Northumberland OPP is seeking assistance from the public with this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding these acts of mischief and theft, is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1 800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit information online at www.stopcrimehere.ca. When you contact Crime Stoppers you remain anonymous and you will never have to testify in court. You may also be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Businesses with surveillance cameras that capture any illegal activity in and around their businesses are asked to call the OPP, as the images and videos may assist in solving these ongoing and troublesome occurrences.
