Quinte West OPP – Single Vehicle Rollover Closes Hwy 401 Eastbound Lanes

On Friday 26 June 2020 at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a vehicle traveling eastbound on the 401 near the Big Apple in Colborne. The vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner at a high rate of speed.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m. the same vehicle was reported a s being involved in a single vehicle rollover in the eastbound lanes of the 401 at Glenn Miller Road exit.

The lone male driver had exited the vehicle on his own and was acting aggressively towards police and bystanders. Police utilized a conducted energy weapon to gain control over the individual.

The male was arrested at the scene and was treated for minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation at this time with further information to follow. The eastbound lanes of the 401 were closed for a short period of time and all lanes have since been re-opened.
