Surf’s Up In Cobourg

In News, Weather

Surfers from Toronto to Port Perry came to Cobourg for the best day of the year for surfing on Lake Ontario.

With the high winds, also came high waves along the lakeshore area on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
Surfers and stand-up-paddleboarders came from across southern Ontario to Cobourg to enjoy the surfing.

A Northumberland OPP officer educated paddle boarders on the laws concerning paddle boarding and surfing.

The officer stated, that once a paddle is used for navigation the operator needs to be wearing a personal floatation device.

Surfers are exempt from this, but as a paddle board is used for navigation they are required to have a personal floatation device.

The two boarders appreciated the information and put the paddle in their vehicle and used just their boards from that point on.
