Lakefront Supports the Community with a $6930 Donation to Food 4 All

As a locally owned utility, Lakefront Utilities contributes to the safety and comfort of the community in whatever way we can, including helping to put food on the table with a $6,930 donation to Food 4 All Northumberland.

“Nothing is more important than the health, safety and well-being of our employees, customers and the communities we serve,” said Lakefront President and CEO Dereck Paul. “Due to the pandemic, some community meals and food programs have been temporarily discontinued at a time when the need is heightened. We are pleased to be part of the solution with this donation raised through payroll deductions, which were matched by the organization.

“We are fortunate to be an essential services and critical infrastructure company that is able to remain open and allow our staff to continue working,” said Paul. “We felt a duty to help others that are in need during this challenging time. I am grateful that we were able to support the community as many people struggle to pay the bills as they do the right thing by staying at home.”

Lakefront is also offering increased payment flexibility for customers experiencing hardship. If you are concerned about paying your bill, or have been impacted by the pandemic, contact Lakefront to discuss payment arrangements.

Customers who pay time-of-use electricity rates will continue to be billed at the off-peak price 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing relief to families, farms, and small businesses until May 31.

In addition to extending emergency electricity rate, a number of programs are available in Ontario to help low-income energy consumers. The Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) provides low-income consumers with on-going help through a monthly on-bill credit to reduce their electricity bill. The Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) provides a one-time grant towards your electricity or natural gas bill if you are behind on your bill and may face having your service shut off. The AffordAbility Fund helps customers improve home energy efficiency with free energy-saving upgrades which may include appliances and insulation.

Lakefront customers who use the mobile application and the on-line customer portal have been shown to reduce their utility use by 15 percent, putting more money in their pockets and reducing their carbon footprint.
