Quinte West OPP – Careless Driving and Improper Use of Red and Blue Lights

On Friday May 1, 2020, officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 401 east bound from Northumberland County. Just before 12:00 p.m. officers located the suspect vehicle on Glen Miller Road in the City of Quinte West. The 55 year old driver from Ajax was charged with Careless Driving and Unauthorized Red and Blue lights. The light was seized by Police.

Under the Highway Traffic Act, emergency vehicles are authorized to carry lamps that cast red and blue lights, but no other motor vehicle shall carry any lamp that casts red and blue lights t o the front of the vehicle.
