Northumberland OPP – Drug Trafficking Charges Laid

In November of 2019, members of the Peterborough/ Northumberland Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) entered into a drug trafficking investigation.

On Friday January 31, 2020, an arrest was made by the CSCU with the assistance from the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) outside a local area business located on Park Street in the town of Brighton. 15.2 grams of suspected cocaine, cash and a smart phone were seized.

As a result of the investigation Ryan Douglas KNAPMAN (age 34) of Brighton, Ontario and Matthew GIANISELLI (age 37) of Quinte West, Ontario were arrested and each charged with:

· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
· Traffick in Schedule I substance – Cocaine

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on March 3, 2020.
