Northumberland County council congratulated 44 employees and recent retirees who had achieved long-service milestones ranging from five to 30 years at its Wednesday meeting.

“Today we celebrate themes of commitment, caring and leadership as we recognize county employees who have dedicated years of service to their community,” chief administrative officer Jennifer Moore said.

“You strengthen that culture and create a lasting impressio with our residents.

“We are honoured you have chosen to invest your knowledge, skills and passion in our community and our organization. Thank you for your dedication to making great things happen in Northumberland.”

Almost a dozen departments were represented, from employees achieving the five-year mark in court services, information and technology, and the Material Recovery Facility to those hitting 25 years in economic development, planning and strategic initiatives.

The Golden Plough Lodge swept the awards in a way, with between one and five employees in every five-year increment from five to 30 years.
Warden Bob Sanderson offered congratulations to all.

“It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the possibilities for Northumberland when passionate professionals work together in the common goal of service to the public,” Sanderson said.

“We are immensely grateful for the contributions you have made in your time with the county.

“Outside of Northumberland County, when we go to other meetings, Northumberland is held as the poster child of getting organized and getting things done. As the new warden, I am always very pleased when I hear that.”
