Panthers Lose Tight Game Against The Pirates At the Jack Burger Sports Complex

Picton Pirates beat the Port Hope Panthers in PJHL action in a tight game at the Jack Burger Sports Complex on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

Port Hope tried to make a comeback coming within one goal, but in the end the Pirates beat the Panthers 5-4.

Port Hope scored the first goal at 6:34 of the first period by Dryden Minifie and assisted by Matt Moran.

Picton tied up the game and Port Hope’s next goal was at 16:36 of the second period scored by Carter Clarke.

Picton once again came back to tie the game, but Port Hope once again took the lead at 8:39 of the third period with a goal by Jarrett Desormeaux, assisted by Cam Harris and Stefan Lakoseljac.

Picton mounted a comeback scoring three unanswered goals in the third to make the game 5-3, but the Panthers last goal was at 18:15 of the third by Corey Saman with assists by Simon Feig and Zeph Hlapcic.

Picton was 1-5 on the power play and Port Hope was 0-5.

Prior to the game, four volunteers from the Panthers were honoured with their decade of service with the team.

In the photo from the left, Terry White (announcer), Tim Whitehead (equipment manager), Kim Spencer (box officer) and Dan Stewart (50/50 sales) were given certificates from Panthers owner Yvette Lagrois in grateful appreciation for their decade of volunteering for the team.
