Kawartha Lakes Police – RIDE Team Arrests Driver in Possession of Loaded Handgun

On December 16, 2019 at 10:16PM the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service RIDE team was on patrol in Lindsay, looking for impaired drivers.

Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Kent Street west, without headlights on and stopped the vehicle to investigate the driver.

The driver was arrested shortly after for failing to identify himself to police.

Following his arrest, a loaded 9-millimeter, prohibited handgun was located inside the vehicle. A female passenger in the vehicle who was also arrested, was found to be in possession of cocaine and hydromorphone.

Charged with fifteen firearm related offences, including possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order is 28-year-old Olajuwon Ajibola of Mississauga.

Charged with nine firearm related offences and two counts of possession of a controlled substance is 19-year-old Michaela Davey of Lindsay.

Both accused were held in custody to attend bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street west in Lindsay.
