Durham Police – Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Clarington

A male believed to be in his 40’s was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle while walking along the side of the road in Clarington.

On Sunday, December 8, 2019, at approximately 6:45 p.m., members of East Division were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Regional Highway 2 near Brownsville Road in Clarington. A male pedestrian was walking along the roadway when he was struck by an eastbound Dodge Caravan. The pedestrian was struck and thrown into the ditch, and sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge stopped immediately and was not injured.

Durham Paramedic Services and Clarington Fire attended the scene and provided medical assistance to the injured pedestrian, but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

The identity of the deceased is still being investigated.
