Ice Storm – Day 2 Around Cobourg

In Weather

Most travelers took the weather forecasters advice and didn’t travel over the weekend.

Along Highway 401 on Sunday there were very few vehicles on the highway and on local roads.  Northumberland OPP dealt with a number of vehicles in the ditch, but there were no serious injuries.

Around Cobourg pedestrian traffic was very minimal but there were a few people out including at least one cyclist.

Cobourg resident Ira Collins who is an avid cross-country skier had the right idea for getting to the YMCA Northumberland for her yoga class.

Staying off the main roads as much as she could, she enjoyed skiing the three kilometres to the YMCA on the icy, snowy, rainy day.

It’s the latest in the year Collins has ever been cross-country skiing, but added, she certainly didn’t mind it.
