The Municipality of Port Hope’s Centre of Excellence for Environmental Sustainability Working Group is pleased to host what they are calling an AWESEOMEE Fest November 9.

AWESOMEE is an acronym developed by event chairman Greg Burns, which stands for Air-Water-Earth: Showcasing Our Multifaceted Environmental Endeavours.

Taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Town Park Recreation Centre, it’s a free family-friendly environmental festival – and, noted Mayor Bob Sanderson, a stepping stone towards the planning and implementation of the Climate Action Plan Council recently approved.

“We are encouraged by the number of groups and individuals that are coming together to inspire our residents and incorporate innovative ideas into their daily lives, in an effort to make Port Hope a healthier and greener community,” Sanderson said in the municipality’s press release.

Burns envisions the event as an opportunity for local schools, community-based organizations, businesses and individuals to highlight the ways in which they can “green” Port Hope by sharing the stories of how they are making a difference in their local environment.

“Our goal is to inspire, educate, and engage local residents to adopt new and creative solutions to improve our environment,” he said.
“We hope that this festival will be a catalyst for ‘green’ change.”

The AWESOMEE Fest is free and open to all members of the community. Additional details are available at /porthope.ca/events/awesomee-fest.
