Northumberland OPP On The Lookout For Missing Set of Transport Tires Following Fire

In Police Blotter

Ontario Provincial Police are on the lookout for a set of dual wheels that came off a transport somewhere between Colborne and Toronto on Highway 401.

It was noticed the wheels were missing off a transport hauling 90,000 pounds of woodchips after the rear wheels of a transport caught fire shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019.

The driver of the transport disconnected the cab from the trailer.

The transport was on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 and pulled over just east of the County Road 25 overpass.

Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department along with Cramahe Fire Department attended the scene to extinguish the fire.

Currently part of the eastbound lane on-ramp is blocked off to remove the damaged trailer.
