Gun Point Takedown On Highway 401

One person is in custody after a dramatic gun point take down on Highway 401 on Monday, September 23, 2019.
At approximately 11 a.m. Northumberland OPP were notified by a neighbouring communications centre that a woman was in distress.
“There was information that a firearm could be involved,” said Northumberland OPP.
Police spotted the vehicle east of Port Hope in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 and initiated a gun point take down of the three occupants.
“During the detention of the people one of them became assaultive.”
A male and female occupant of the vehicle were released with no charges and another woman was charged with assaulting police.
She was taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital suffering from a medical condition.
Police searched the vehicle, but no firearm was found.
