Northumberland OPP – Three People Charged With Impaired Driving

(CRAMAHE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Monday August 5, 2019 members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check at the intersection of Telephone Road and County Road 25. Just before 9:30 pm a white SUV approached the check point. Upon speaking with the female driver, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) was administered resulting in a “fail”. Anna Leslie TURNBULL (age 30) from Hamilton Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
She was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court on September 18, 2019.

(MUNCIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) On Friday August 9, 2019 at approximately 6:50 pm officers responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 8 near Wingfield Road. Officers found the male driver to be uninjured and under the influence of alcohol. Jacob Theodore MCCUMBER (age 26) of Belleville, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg Court on September 18, 2019.

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TOWNSHIP, ON) – Just before 6:30 pm on Sunday August 11, 2019 officers responded to reports of a Silver Acura sedan with substantial damage in the ditch on Massey Road near Fenton Road and the occupants still within the vehicle. Police arrived on scene and found the female driver and male passenger uninjured. As a result of the investigation, Jacqueline O’DONOHUE (age 36) of Hamilton Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – 80 plus
Driving while under suspension
She was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in Cobourg on October 2, 2019.
The accused received an automatic driver’s licence suspension and the vehicles they were driving were towed and impounded.

The OPP remains committed to enforcing impaired driving laws and educating road users about the dangers posed by motorists who drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Drivers need to remember that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Do your part in keeping our roads safe by planning ahead.
