Durham Region – Major Drug Investigation in the GTA

In Crime

Durham Regional Police and the R.C.M.P. executed multiple search warrants early this week and seized approximately $875,000 in cash, cars and drugs as part of a GTA-wide drug investigation.

The DRPS Drug Enforcement Unit and the R.C.M.P. began Project Kamloops in spring of 2019. The focus was on drug trafficking in Durham Region and the GTA. This past week, nine search warrants were executed at several residences and businesses in Durham Region, Toronto and Peel Region. All arrests occurred without incident with no injuries reported.

Nine people have been arrested and are facing 60 charges. The total value of cash, cars and drugs seized in Project Kamloops, including this week’s seizures, is approximately $2 million dollars. The seizure includes six vehicles (Proceeds of Crime), a firearm, cash, cocaine, fentanyl and MDMA

A list of the suspects and charges will be released later this week.

The DRPS and the R.C.M.P. would like to thank the numerous partners who assisted in this project, including the Toronto Police Service and Peel Regional Police Service.
