The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a police officer in connection with an officer-involved shooting incident.

The Chief of Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) requested the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) conduct a parallel investigation of an on-duty altercation involving two NRPS members on November 29, 2018 in the Town of Pelham that left one officer wounded by a firearm.

As a result of the investigation, Constable Nathan PARKER, aged 52 years of St. Catharines, is charged with three offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) as follows:
· Assault Peace Officer, Sec 270(1)(a) CC
· Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Sec 270(1)(b) CC
· Assault with a Weapon, Sec 267(a) CC

The accused is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on June 10, 2019.
The OPP will not comment further on this matter as it is now before the courts.
