OPP Executes Search Warrant for Illegal Cannabis

(CAMBRIDGE, ON) – Members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Waterloo Regional Police Service, executed a search warrant at an illegal cannabis storefronts in Cambridge, Ontario.

As a result of the warrants being executed, police seized processed Cannabis, Hash, CBD oil, Shatter, CBD edibles, CBD lotions and creams, Cannabis plants, and CBD vape pens.

The following individuals have been arrested and charged with Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA) and with Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution, contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).

  • Jade Marie JANES, 18-years-old, of Cambridge On
  • Madison Nicole CHESTER, 32-years-old, of Cambridge On

The accused were released with an Appearance Notice and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Kitchener, at a later date.

The OPP is continuing to lead an enforcement strategy which includes other Ontario police services. This strategy will reflect actionable intelligence on illegal cannabis operations.

The focus of the strategy is to dismantle organized crime groups, eliminate the illegal cannabis supply, remove illegal cannabis enterprises such as store fronts and online, and target the proceeds of crime and assets.
