Phone Scam
Port Hope Police are warning residents about a phone scam after one resident received a phone call from someone purporting to work for the Municipality of Port Hope. The message left on the answering machine stated that he was to contact a number and provide his visa number in order to pay an outstanding bill of over $100.00. The man contacted representative of Municipality who advised they would not phone and leave messages with the amount owed and further do not accept VISA. There was no number attributed to the phone call. The man is not out any money.

Attempt theft of vehicles
Port Hope Police is investigating two separate attempt thefts of vehicles. On the 6th of December a Pine Street man reported his ignition damaged on his 2016 Chevrolet Product and an Oxford Street resident reported his Truck entered and ignition damaged. In both cases Police were advised the vehicles were locked. Police could not locate signs of forced entry into the vehicles. The investigation is continuing.

MVC
A Port Hope woman is charged with careless driving after a collision occurred on Jocelyn St and Scriven Blvd. At 10:59am Friday March 7th Emergency Services was dispatched to the scene after a vehicle that was stopped westbound on Jocelyn St was rear ended by Ford SUV. The airbags were activated in the Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped waiting for another vehicle to turn on to Scriven Blvd. The two people in the Malibu were transported to NHH via ambulance. Injuries were reported not to be serious. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Damage to both vehicles was extensive.
