With a 7-2 win over the North York Rangers on Monday night, the Cobourg Cougars concluded the September portion of their 2026-27 Ontario Junior Hockey League schedule with a 5-0-1-0 record.

Cobourg’s lone defeat – a 5-4 overtime loss – came against the league-leading Markham Royals, which have won their first 11 games. The Cougars and Royals are the only teams not to have lost a game in regulation time.

Markham (11-0-0-0) leads the OJHL with 22 points and are atop the Eastern Conference ahead of the Cougars and Wellington Dukes (5-2-1-0), which are tied with 11 points apiece though Cobourg has played two fewer games.

Cobourg heads to Pickering tonight for a 6:30 p.m. matchup against the Panthers (3-4-0-1).

Saturday afternoon, the Cougars will host the Collingwood Blues (8-1-0-0). Game time is 4:30 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre.

There is no regular Monday home game next week as the Cougars head to the OJHL’s Governors’ Showcase in Niagara Falls.
